Couples Counselling

Cute Couple

Our counsellors are here to help you communicate more effectively, overcome obstacles in a healthy way, and ultimately connect more deeply than before - even if you're struggling with a particularly difficult situation, like an affair, or feeling worried that you and your partner are growing apart.

Whether you are working through a specific issue or would like to prepare your relationship so it can weather any storm, we can provide guidance and support.

Therapy can help you and your partner to develop a deeper connection, communicate more effectively, re-establish intimacy and sex, build a solid foundation of friendship and support, have more fun together, and gain insight and tools you can use for the rest of your life.

Therapy can also help if you are considering separation, or would like to figure out what the best next step will be for your relationship. We can help you to separate in a way that improves your ability to co-parent, or help you to heal old wounds so they don't follow you into your next relationship.

Relationship Counselling for Individuals

If you and your partner are struggling but they aren't willing or able to come to therapy with you, or if you wonder if maybe you personally need to do some work to understand/manage/improve your situation, please reach out.

Our counsellors can help you discover more about your own thoughts and feelings, and help you learn to interact with and connect with your partner in a way that feels better to you both.

We can also help if you are considering separation, or would like to figure out what the best next step will be for your relationship. We can discuss how to separate in a way that feels more gentle and less destructive, or start the journey of healing old wounds to heal your current or future relationships.

Sex Therapy

Desire gaps, sexless marriages, affairs, sexual preferences, being parents, past trauma and/or messaging around sex - a lot can impact our sexual relationships with our significant other. Our counsellors work with couples and individuals on understanding your sexual cycles, give tools for how to rebuild your sex life, and help you reconnect in ways that may have seemed impossible before. Take off the pressure so you can increase the pleasure and bond that comes with a mutually satisfying sex life.

Clients report things like "These sessions help pull out of us the conversations we NEED to be having." and "Sex therapy with you is helping us have FUN again."

What to Expect from Relationship Counselling

A place to LISTEN & BE HEARD

We can feel lonely and misunderstood in our relationships - and that often comes from one or both partners not knowing HOW to be present with another person. In individual relationship counselling, your therapist will be mindfully and compassionately present with you, listening to your story and reflecting it back to you - and that, in itself, is healing and brain-changing.

In couples counselling, you and your partner will learn how to be present with each other - and that, though it's not easy and can certainly take time, is relationship-changing.

A place to LEARN and PRACTICE TOOLS

Tools are wonderful - but often not enough, in and of themselves. In our counselling sessions, your counsellor will give you evidence-based tools you can use right away, and also help you discover what obstacles might get in your way and how to work WITH those obstacles to learn more about yourself and your relationship.

A sacred space that's just for you and your relationship

It's hard to find the time to just TALK about your relationship. And sometimes, even if we have the time, we fall into patterns that lead to greater isolation when we DO talk about our experiences, rather than the closeness we really want. With work and kids, we can fall into patterns that feel easy and familiar... but not connecting. In individual counselling, you have a  sacred space to consider your needs and learn HOW to talk about difficult topics as well as the good stuff with your partner. In couples counselling, we create a sacred space to learn about your partner's experience in a safe, non-threatening way, and to be able to speak about your own experience in a way that your partner can HEAR (sometimes for the very first time). Often, couples leave session feeling refreshed, as we talk not only about the things that are painful but also about the moments that bring the most joy.
